I recently watched a video on the Today Show about hearing loss. I also watched an introduction to our sound unit. I learned that sound travels in waves, and you can measure sound in Herz (HZ), and decibels (DB). I also learned that you can amplify any sound that you have to make it quieter or louder.
The Today Show video was about adult hearing loss. It featured a man who was losing his hearing at an early age due to the use of headphones in his younger years. He grew up in a time where headphones were very popular. This is what caused his hearing to grow weaker. He went to the doctor and the doctor prescribed him with an earpiece to help him hear better. Hearing loss isn't curable but it can be slowed down. This video made me wonder if my hearing is being weakened by the use of headphones in my life. I will really consider my exposure to headphones and take into consideration, my hearing for the rest of my life.
